Single Point Sling with Rescue 8
Choose between 6 to 10 yards of soft, durable, easy-to-clean Aerial Fabric (Tricot with Shine), along with a rescue 8, two carabiners, and a swivel for your aerial hammock setup. The single point sling mounts from a single attachment point (ceiling attachment not included) and includes a swivel to allow spinning without twisting the fabric.
For those who prefer rigging with a rescue 8 instead of the runner method, this setup offers the necessary hardware. Keep in mind, using the rescue 8 requires slightly more fabric due to the knots involved.
Choosing Your Hammock Length:
-
Low ceilings (~8 ft): A 6-yard hammock will sit about 3 feet off the ground, ideal for relaxation and basic moves.
-
Higher ceilings (~12 ft): An 8-yard hammock will place the bottom about 5 feet off the floor, perfect for flipping tricks.
Key Features:
-
Fabric: Soft, durable, and stretchable along the width (not length), 108 inches wide
-
Hardware: Rescue 8, two steel screw gate carabiners (color may vary), and a swivel for smooth rotations
-
Versatility: Suitable for aerial dance, aerial skills, aerial fitness, and aerial yoga.
-
Self-Assembly: Comes unassembled with clear instructions for assembling the rescue 8 with safety knots
Please note that the color photographed is approximate and can vary depending on your computer monitor, different types of lighting, and vision.

Measure the Rigging Height: Begin by measuring the height from the ground to the rigging point. For high ceilings, we recommend using a laser measure for precision.
Account for Hammock Height: Determine how high you want the hammock to be off the ground, typically for aerial yoga around hip height (about 3 feet). Subtract this height from the ceiling height. For example, if your ceiling is 12 feet high and you want the hammock 3 feet off the ground, your working height will be 9 feet.
Calculate Fabric Length: Multiply this working height by 2 to account for both “sides” of the hammock.
Add Rig Tie Length: Depending on your rigging method, add the appropriate fabric length. If you are rigging with runners or multiple links, add 1.5 feet per side (3 feet total).
**If you are rigging with a rescue 8 setup, add an additional 9 feet of fabric, as this tie requires more material.

The Aerial Fabric is 40 denier (thread thickness), 100% Nylon. It is between 102 and 108 inches or 9 feet wide. It stretches on the width not the length, meaning there is very little stretch when you sit in it, or climb.
The fabric is regularly break tested with a single strand breaking around 2,500 pounds. Certificate of strength available upon request. AFA uses a safety factor (also called a design factor) of 6 to 1 for aerial fabric. Based on the minimum breaking strength from destructive testing of a single strand of fabric, we recommend a working load limit of 416 pounds.
The swivel is rated at 36kN with a working load of 5kN.
The rescue 8 is rated at 45kN.
Each steel screw gate carabiners is rated at 50 kN.

We recommend only washing your aerial fabric when necessary. Frequent washing can degrade the fabric more quickly over time. Follow these tips when washing your aerial fabric.
Please remove all hardware (carabiners, swivel, and rescue 8) prior to washing! These should not be washed in a washing machine.
Fabric: Do not use a top-loading washing machine with an agitator. It can snag the fabric. If a top load is your only option you can put the aerial fabric in a large mesh laundry bag and then put the whole thing in the washer. This will help protect from snags. Always use a gentle wash cycle. Fabric should be washed at a low temperature or cold only (not hot). Use a gentle detergent. Do not use fabric softener, bleach, or vinegar. It is recommended to line dry only. Using a dryer can damage the fabric due to heat exposure. Wash only 1 piece of fabric at a time.
Carabiners: spot clean as needed with a damp wash cloth and mild soap, like Dawn. Carabiners need to be checked frequently for wear at connection points with other metals (such as the connection to your anchor point). If there is 10% of more wear in the metal of the carabiner it should be replaced immediately.
Swivel: spot clean as needed with a damp wash cloth and mild soap, like Dawn. Do not submerge in water. Swivels need to be checked frequently for wear at connection points with other metals (the connection to your carabiners). If there is 10% of more wear in the metal of the swivel it should be replaced immediately. Furthermore, inspect and confirm the swivel rotates freely and doesn’t feel “gritty”. If the swivel doesn’t rotate smoothly, retire the piece as there is no way to clean internal mechanisms.

We have a variety of aerial hammocks to suit every need! The main difference in which hammock you select will depend on if you want your hammock to spin freely or not.
Typically, if you are doing aerial yoga you do not want your hammock to spin. In this case, select a double point hammock. This means that the hammock will require 2 attachment points to the ceiling. It also does not include swivels. If you try to spin, the fabric will twist, so it is possible to rotate, but a double point hammock is overall LESS prone to spin. It is more stable for aerial yoga activity. You can select between 2 different double point hammocks. The adjustable double point hammock is ideal for quickly moving your hammock to different heights for poses or students of various heights. It comes with a multiple link for quick adjustment. The other option is the basic hammock, which is not height adjustable but is great for a person piece of equipment where you don’t want to adjust the height often.
Our single point hammocks are made for spinning! They come with a swivel, which is a piece of hardware made specifically for rotation. Single point hammocks are sometimes called slings. You can choose between a single point set up with a rescue 8 or one with runners and a daisy chain. A daisy chain is different from a multiple link in that it is stronger for dynamic aerial dance tricks. The rescue 8 set up is preferred in the aerial dance community for its strength, but it does require significantly more fabric for the tie, which makes it more expensive.

The use of our equipment and video instructions, even if properly followed, could lead to serious injury or death. While AFA strongly encourages all products be assembled by qualified individuals, and in strict accordance with assembly instructions, no amount of care or knowledge can eliminate all risks of danger. Your use of our products is at your own risk.
AFA TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR USE OR MISUSE OF AFA PRODUCTS. YOU PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.
IN NO EVENT SHALL AERIAL FABRIC ACROBATICS, LLC OR ANY OF ITS AFFILIATES BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES TO PROPERTY OR LIFE DUE TO THE USE OR MISUSE OF OUR PRODUCTS.
Please be safe. Improper use or installation of our products could lead to serious injury or death. Practicing at home poses more risks than practicing in a studio. Always practice above a padded mat. Some medical conditions are not recommended for aerial activities; always check with your doctor before beginning aerial acrobatic activities or any type of exercise program. Never practice aerial arts alone. Always practice under the guidance of a certified aerial instructor, and always ensure your equipment is installed by a professional rigger. All aerial equipment should be inspected before each use for safety. AFA uses a safety factor (also called a design factor) of 6 to 1 for aerial fabric. Based on the minimum breaking strength from destructive testing, we recommend a working load limit of 416 pounds. AFA instructional videos are limited to the assembly of the fabric to the hardware provided. Not every home or studio will be the same, and therefore, AFA cannot advise on any rigging activities. It is essential that anyone using our products be fully aware of prescribed industry methods for assembling rigging apparatus, including, but not limited to all necessary safety procedures and precautions. If you haven’t established a safe rigging point, please do this first with the help of a structural engineer, experienced rigger, or other professional familiar with what you're hanging and where you're hanging it.
